Carrier oils: the foundation of every care

Carrier oils are the base for skin care, massage and your own blends. We introduce the most important ones and show what to look for.

The key carrier oils
What is a carrier oil?

The base that carries it all

A carrier or base oil is a fatty plant oil that cares for the skin and at the same time serves as a carrier for other active ingredients, such as essential oils. It makes up the largest part of any care blend.

Unlike essential oils, carrier oils are mild and can go neat on the skin, provided they suit the skin type.

The most important carrier oils

  • Jojoba oil: strictly a liquid wax, extremely long-lasting, similar to the skin’s sebum and non-comedogenic.
  • Almond oil: mild and well tolerated, for every skin type and even baby skin.
  • Argan oil: rich in vitamin E, regenerating, good for mature and dry skin.
  • Avocado oil: very rich, ideal for very dry skin.
  • Grapeseed oil: light and fast-absorbing, good for oily and combination skin.
Blend your own

The base for your own blends

With a good base oil you lay the foundation for your own care oils, massage oils or serums. You choose the carrier oil by skin type and add a few drops of essential oil if you like.

Keep the blends small, work cleanly and label them with a date, because natural oils have a limited shelf life too.

What to look for

  • Cold-pressed and organic: only then do the valuable nutrients survive.
  • Matched to skin type: light oils for oily, rich oils for dry skin.
  • Mind the shelf life: jojoba lasts very long, many other oils want to be kept cool and used promptly.
  • Dark glass: protects against light and oxidation.

We give you the facts, the decision stays with you.
