CBD oil: full spectrum, broad spectrum, isolate

What is really inside and what do the terms mean? We explain the types of CBD oil factually , without health promises.

What is CBD?

What’s in CBD oil

CBD oil consists of cannabidiol, a compound of the hemp plant, dissolved in a carrier oil such as hemp seed or MCT oil. CBD is not psychoactive, so it does not make you „high“. The THC content must stay below 0.3 percent.

Strength is stated in milligrams of CBD or as a percentage. Without that figure it is not a CBD oil, just a hemp oil.

Full spectrum, broad spectrum or isolate?

  • Full spectrum: contains CBD plus other cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids, including traces of THC (below the limit). The interplay is credited with the so-called entourage effect.
  • Broad spectrum: like full spectrum, but the THC has been largely removed.
  • Isolate: pure CBD without other plant compounds, neutral in taste.

What suits you is a matter of taste and trust. In any case, what matters is a product with traceable origin and a lab report.

Said honestly

CBD oil for ingestion is classed in the EU as an unapproved novel food and moves in a legal grey zone. We make no health promises: CBD is not a medicine and does not replace medical treatment. When taking medication, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, always seek medical advice. We give you the facts, the decision stays with you.
