Law & quality: spotting a serious product
With CBD, the serious quickly separates from the black sheep. We show you the legal situation openly and the marks by which you recognise quality.
Spot qualityThe legal situation, said openly
In Germany, since the 2024 Cannabis Act, the THC content may not exceed 0.3 percent. CBD oil for ingestion, however, is classed in the EU as an unapproved novel food. Consumer associations and the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment stress that such products strictly speaking should not be sold as food and that their safety is not sufficiently proven.
In practice they are widely sold and mostly tolerated. But it remains a grey zone, and you should know that before you buy.
Compare top-rated products, check prices and order directly.
How to spot quality
- Lab report (Certificate of Analysis): a serious provider shows an independent analysis with CBD and THC content as well as a contaminant test.
- Clear origin & extraction: where does the hemp come from, how was it extracted (e.g. gentle CO2 extraction)?
- Exact mg figure: active amount transparent in milligrams or percent, not just „hemp oil“.
- No health promises: anyone advertising cures is not serious, because that is legally not allowed.
- Realistic price & dark glass: quality has its price, and light-protected bottles protect the contents.
Said honestly
The market is opaque, and not every product delivers what the label promises. Tests repeatedly find deviations between stated and actual CBD content, or contaminants. The lab report is therefore your most important tool. CBD is not a medicine, and we make no health promises. We give you the facts, the decision stays with you.
