Condensing technology
Heating technology that also uses the heat from the flue gas , more efficient than old non-condensing boilers.
Definition
Heat from the flue gas
A condensing boiler cools the flue gas so far that the water vapour it contains condenses and its heat is additionally used. This noticeably raises efficiency compared to old non-condensing technology.
Low-sulphur heating oil is usually required for condensing boilers because it burns cleaner.
In brief
- Advantage: higher efficiency, lower consumption.
- Requirement: usually low-sulphur oil, a suitable chimney.
- Context: saves oil, but doesn’t change that oil heating is a phase-out model.
Related terms: Low-sulphur heating oil.
