Make your own bath oil: nourishing and relaxing

A few ingredients are enough for a soothing bath. We show the recipe and one important safety rule.

What this is about

Oil wants to bind

Pure oil floats on top of the bathwater. It spreads more nicely if you mix it with a little cream, milk or a mild emulsifier, then it cares for the skin more evenly.

A small amount of base oil is already enough for a pleasant skin feel.

The base recipe

  • Base: one to two tablespoons of a mild oil such as almond or jojoba oil.
  • Bind it: stir in a splash of cream, milk or a mild emulsifier.
  • Scent optional: very few drops of essential oil, mix in well, not neat into the water.
  • Add to the water: add to the drawn water and stir briefly.
  • Caution slippery: oil makes the tub and floor slick, clean well afterwards and step out carefully.

Said honestly

A homemade bath oil is quickly mixed and nicely nourishing, but the most important rule is the slip hazard: oil makes the tub and floor slick, so step in and out carefully and clean thoroughly afterwards. Use essential oils only sparingly and well bound. It is care, not treatment, and we make no healing promises. We give you the facts, the decision stays with you.
