Make your own oil body scrub
Sugar or salt plus oil makes a gentle scrub for smooth skin. We show the recipe and the pitfalls.
To the recipeScrub and care in one
An oil scrub combines two things: the grit of sugar or salt loosens loose skin flakes, while the oil cares at the same time. The result is smooth, cared-for skin, especially on elbows, knees and feet.
For the body yes, for the face the grit is usually too coarse.

The base recipe
- Grit: about two parts fine sugar or fine salt.
- Oil: one part mild oil such as almond or coconut oil, until a moist mass forms.
- Scent optional: a few drops of essential oil, sparingly.
- Apply: massage gently into damp skin, then rinse off.
- Body only: too coarse for the face, leave out open or irritated skin.
- Caution slippery: oil makes the shower and tub slick, clean well afterwards.
Said honestly
An oil scrub is cheap, quick and lovely for rough spots, but two things count: not on the face and not on irritated skin, and watch out for the slippery shower. It is care, not treatment, and we make no healing promises. Mix it fresh and keep leftovers cool. We give you the facts, the decision stays with you.
