New foods

CBD oil for ingestion is classed in the EU as a novel food and so far has no such approval.

In brief

  • Purpose: consumer protection , safety checked before sale.
  • Consequence for CBD: a legal grey zone, as the approval is missing.
  • Source of the classification: consumer associations and the risk assessment institute.
