Wheat germ oil: the vitamin E champion
Rich, heavy and exceptionally high in vitamin E. We show where it fits and where it does not.
How to use itLots of vitamin E, very sensitive
Wheat germ oil is obtained from the germ of the wheat grain and holds one of the highest vitamin E contents of any common oil. It is thick, heavy and has a strong, grainy taste.
Because of its many unsaturated fatty acids it is sensitive and does not keep for long.

How it is used
- Skin care: as a rich additive in creams and oils, often mixed with lighter base oils.
- Kitchen, cold: by the drop over food, never heated, the taste is strong.
- Gluten note: it comes from wheat, mind this with coeliac disease or gluten intolerance.
- Keep it fresh: buy small, store cool and dark, use up promptly.
Said honestly
Wheat germ oil scores with its high vitamin E content, but it is heavy, intense in taste and quick to spoil, so it is rarely used neat and mostly as a blend. It is care and food, not a remedy, and we make no healing promises. If you like it, blend it cleverly and keep it fresh. We give you the facts, the decision stays with you.
